Crowfoot LRT campaign a success

Crowfoot LRT Station CampaigningOur campaign at the Crowfoot LRT Station was very successful, and a lot of fun. We handed out approximately two hundred brochures and completed 15 surveys about Calgary Public Transit. See survey template attached.

Most of the people we spoke to live in Ward 1. There were also a few people in Ward 2.

Almost everyone who completed the survey used the LRT 5+ times and one person said they used LRT 2-5 times

Everyone said they felt safe using the LRT in the daytime but only 4 people said they felt safe using the LRT at night. Two people said they never use the LRT at night.

When asked if the Park & Ride Fee changed the LRT usage; 7 people said yes and 8 people said no. One person said that the fee angers riders. Another said that usage would be greater without a fee but we need to be sure we have security.

When asked the question about free LRT Park & Ride parking for Calgarians; 10 people said yes and 5 people said no. One person said the Park & Ride should be free for everyone.

Only 4 people felt that crime had increased in their neighbourhood.

Comments:
More & larger trains required
Platforms are too busy
More buses needed with more routes and arrive more frequently
Downtown needs to be faster
4 car trains needed now
Lower fares
North Central LRT – higher priority
More frequent service
Increase bus service
More buses, better schedule
Cost too high
Better bus service to Rocky Ridge
More smaller buses
Buses should have GPS systems so you can call and find out where they are.

Thank you to Andrea, Lucas, Natalia, Mark, Kerry, Darcie, Clark and Rachel for joining me at this event.

EcoLiving Stampede Breakfast a huge success

As the Executive Director of EcoLiving Events, Judi Vandenbrink was busy organizing the first ever EcoLiving Stampede Breakfast which was a huge success. She was busy interacting with the over 400 visitor, talking about EcoLiving Events and also her campaign to become the Alderman for Ward 1. She wants to hear the issues and believes that community engagement is one of the most important ways to making Calgary a wonderful city to live in. Everyone who attended had a great morning.

Judi Jumps into Ward 1 Aldermanic Race

Judi Vandenbrink is officially running for alderman for Ward 1.

Judi’s campaign for Ward 1 Alderman was officially launched at a reception held last night at the Ember’s Dining Room & Lounge – Four Points by Sheraton Calgary West.

Judi took this opportunity to sit down with the crowd of supporters and do a roundtable discussion around some of their key issues. There was some fantastic discussion about council leadership, environmental stewardship, and long term vision.

A number of Judi’s long time colleagues were in attendance, and commented on Judi’s results oriented determination. As one person put it, “Judi is very passionate and driven.  When she gets an idea for a project, she gathers a team, does research, finds the funding, and then puts all her energy into making a difference.”
